Burghley Horse Trials 3rd - 5th September 2010

Friday: We will make an early morning departure, and having made a coffee stop on the motorway, we should arrive at Burghley around midday. This prestigious event is set in the grounds of Burghley House in Stamford, Lincolnshire. We will be able to watch an afternoon of dressage, and a headphone commentary is available for those interested in the technicalities. You will be able to walk the cross country course while it is quiet, and the 300 plus trade stands will be quieter too! At the end of the afternoon, we will make our way to our hotel and a relaxing dinner.

Saturday: We will leave our hotel after breakfast, and should arrive at Burghley well before the first competitor sets off on the endurance phase. There will be plenty of time to walk the course and see all the competitors in action. After an exciting day, and plenty of walking, everyone will appreciate the welcoming facilities of our hotel, where an en enjoyable meal awaits us.

Sunday: Today is the climax of the event with the vital showjumping phase. Those horses, which have survived the rigorous veterinary inspection, will compete in reverse order, guaranteeing a nailbiting finish to the competition. We will arrive early to ensure that you have enough shopping time. We have £16-50 tickets for the grandstand for the showjumping and arena activities today. At the end of the afternoon, we will make our way back to the coach for our homeward journey. A meal stop will be made en route, and you should arrive back before midnight.
